Why Foreign Men Prefer Filipinas

I wrote this article almost 7 years ago. I have learned A LOT since then…. Top part written by me as a guest blog post after a Filipina friend wrote the bottom part.

Why Foreigners Prefer Filipinas To Their Own Western Women

Why do foreign men come to countries like the Philippines to meet Pilipinas instead of staying home to find a woman? My friend Dimple wrote an article about this from a Filipina and female standpoint and I thought I would chime in myself.

There are probably a lot of answers to this, but the most obvious one is that the quality of available women in the Philippines is significantly better than abroad. And I don’t mean to belittle women abroad and I will expand. A middle aged man who is not necessarily wealthy or in the best shape and who makes only $28,000 per year and who lives in a small town somewhere in the US  could come to the Philippines and in all likelihood, can meet many beautiful young, college graduate girls who would be capable of falling in love with him.

In the US, as an example, if that same guy in the above paragraph went into a Starbucks and tried to buy dinner for 20 women of  the same age, beauty and qualifications, he probably could not get a date with one of them. Absolutely no joke.

In this article, I will not be getting into the negative stigmas of “mail order brides” or age differences or anything like that. I have covered that before and will no doubt continue to debate in the future. This article is going to explain why foreigners should thank whatever gods they have that they are lucky enough to date Filipinas here and have the unnatural level of popularity.

1) Call me shallow for putting this first, but let’s face reality, Foreigners can find far more attractive partners here than they could at home. Guys who may not be able to find unattractive women in their own countries can come here to the Philippines and land beautiful girlfriends or wives.

2) A lot of Filipinas are generally amiable and pleasant to get along with. Not to say submissive, but rather sweet and loving. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of girls everywhere who love drama and fighting as much as the next woman, but I think it is pretty clear that Filipinas are not as nagging and demanding as foreign women. For a guy who has spent the last twenty years with a nagging wife, to come over to the Philippines and hang out on the beach with a sweet, fun Filipina girl is an experience that will make him never want to go back to his previous life.

3) From what I have observed of Filipina culture, they do not try to dominate their homes. They are supportive of their husbands and respect his decisions and goals.

4) For me, Filipinas, because of their good English have more reality and are easier to communicate with and understand and be on the same level with than many other foreign women in other countries.

OK, I am going to say this without speaking about the whys or any negativeness connected. Filipinas like security and in the culture tend to be attracted to older men. Men everywhere should thank their lucky stars for this and treat their women so good. Filipinas should in turn never tolerate a guy who doesn’t treat them good as there really are a lot of great guys out there who just haven’t found them yet.

Why Marry a Filipina? By a Filipina

As a Filipina, I want to give you my opinion on why a Filipina makes a great wife and companion.

It is human nature to present ourselves in a way that people will be able to see or notice us remarkably.  We dress, act, eat, walk, talk, and so on depending on the impression we want to leave to others.  Thus, we almost always rely on the saying “a first impression lasts” and similar to any other character presentation, either on real time acquaintances or virtual match making, we at all times put our best foot forward.  And because of this, questions arise, “what do you know about the Philippine women?”  or “How do you find them?”

Talking about Philippine women, I bet you always have nice words to say.  Apart from being so romantic, affectionate and compassionate, the top three best attributes of Filipinas are being truthful, faithful and above all, the “family comes first” attitude.  Generally, women, not just the Filipinas, love romance.  Thus, women can be romantic in conjunction with being affectionate and compassionate.

Yet, you can barely find a woman who is dependable.  In this sophisticated era, majority of the women, especially in highly urbanized countries are becoming liberated.  Hence, women try to find equality and follow their own aspirations and desires.  Given this fact, women nowadays are seldom seen in their home, making their marital relationships grow cold.

I am not saying that we, Filipinas are thoughtless and imprudent when it comes to our dreams and aspiration. But it is just innate in us that we are always there for our partners, or for those who are married, for their spouses.  Women in the Philippines are basically dependable in most extents.  Filipinas are armed with distinct characteristics making it possible to simultaneously manage their marriage lives, family and career.

As what I have said, Filipinas are faithful.  This certain attribute is hard to explain in a way, so I need to cite a concrete example in which sad realities will be exposed, but in order for me to justify my claim, that Filipinas are definitely faithful, I have to disclose this one.

I have known a lot of Filipina friends who still managed to sustain their marriage despite the fact that their husbands are not worthy of their faithfulness.  Not all married individuals in the Philippines enjoy a happy and satisfying married life and to be fair, unhappy and uncontended married individuals are found everywhere on earth, there are countless of married couple who suffer dysfunctional relationship.  However, women will then think about getting out of that awful and dying relationship.

It is not really because divorce in the Philippines is outlawed, leaving Filipinas with no choice but to stick around their husbands.  Even Filipinas living in other countries who happen to marry foreigners or even Filipino men, who are obnoxious and rude, they still managed to stay and pursued in trying to work out their marriage.  Despite the fact that this attribute has a disadvantage in their part, still, it is very admirable.

Filipinas are family-oriented, grounded with the importance of close family ties and family values.  And the person greatly responsible for this is the “mother” of each of the Filipino families.  Our mothers indeed play a very crucial role in molding our characters, passing on the Filipino values and customs to us – their daughters.

Filipinas are trained and taught how to become a good wife.  Taking care of the family, serving the husband, raising the kids and taking care of the house are some of the many values imparted to every Filipina.  They bring warmth in their own home, thus they are referred to as the “light” that illuminates the entire   house.  For without them, life would be as dark as the moonless night.

In short, women in the Philippines really appreciate the value of family and the obligations accompanying it.  They believe in the sacredness and wholeness of the family, and that their duty never ends.  As a matter of fact, children who are 18 years old and above still are living with their parents, unlike other countries.  Filipina mothers are very much close to their children.  And as a wife, she makes certain that her husband has everything he needs prior to going to work, and by the time he comes home, his food will be served.  Filipinas make certain that her family is well pampered by her.

  1. Since I wrote this a long time ago, I have definitely had some changes of mind, but of course I still find it far easier to find a great partner in the Philippines than I do in my home country of the United States. And every single foreigner I have ever met would tell you the same.

Saying something about Filipinas being amiable or respecting their partners, let me just say, I don’t think of it this way. I feel like it’s a partnership and I think that could come across wrong. 90 percent of the people who read this will likely be catholics and in any wedding I have been to here, they essentially talk about the husband being head of household and what not. Something along those lines. Team effort, go ladies!
