Cagayan de Oro is the gateway to northern Mindanao. Located along the northern coast of Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro (or CDO as it is popularly called) is a has been voted one of the top of top places to visit and live in, in the Philipines.

From a tourism standpoint, many who visit Cagayan de Oro are on their way to Camiguin Island or who have come to experience the areas white water rafting.

White Water Rafting – The mighty Cagayan River in CDO has the best white water rafting in the entire country. It is the only place where you can go all year round. The rapids range from class 2 to class 4 with the majority class 3s. This is an adrenaline pounding adventure that is both popular foreign and Filipino tourists. You will also have the option to kayak the 14 rapids of the river.

Caving – Cagayan de Oro has great caves for those who are into spelunking.

The Noslek Canopy Walk – About 45 minutes outside of CDO, up a short climb you can cross the hanging bridges that span over the Magbais River. At the end of your walk, you can enjoy a dip in the refreshing pools that are at the base of beautiful waterfalls.

Dahilayan – Here you will find Asia’s longest dual zipline which gets speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour over 840 meters.


CDO can be reached from just about any city in the Philippines with an airport. There are plenty of taxis in the city. multi-cabs and jeepneys are all over the city.

There are both luxury and economy hotels available for visitors to the city.

Nearby Tourist City

Camiguin: Many tourists who come to CDO do so with the idea of spending a few days in Camiguin, one of the Philippine’s most picturesque islands with waterfalls, beaches with glistening white sand and top diving sites. Camiguin is one of a kind and truly worth a visit especially for anyone who is already coming to Mindanao.
